A Must See Camping Sites in Anawangin

Updated – July 2016

Anawangin cove is in the town of San Antonio, Zambales, Phillipines. It is a crescent shaped cove famous for the lush pine forest surrounding its white-sand beach and crystal clear waters. A beautiful place with rugged mountains adds to the mystic landscape of Anawangin Cove. You can’t help but be amazed and behold the beauty of our mother earth. Sure enough this is a perfect camping site for everyone.Anawangin Cove - lovekoanawangin.wordpress.com

It is magnificently lined with pine trees on its shore which gives it a different impression compared to the other tropical beach resorts in the country which are mostly lined with coconut trees. The sand is white and soft with a mixture of volcanic ashes from the last eruption of Mt. Pinatubo making a perfect match for beach walk, ultimate Frisbee and other beach activities.

Behind the forest is a small stream that flows out to the sea (During summer this stream dries up into a shallow pond). Two beach cliffs are bounding the beach, which you can hike up and enjoy the view. A sure perfect location if you just want to get close to the nature or just need a quiet place to unwind and relax. It’s simply picturesque and poster-perfect view especially when the sunset is giving-off an orange glow that reflects to the mountain curves. You will fall in love in this superb gem of Zambales.

Amenities in this cove (camping site) are comfort rooms (5), shower rooms (3), 2 pump waters (for cooking and even bathing etc.), tables and cottages.Anawangin package - bit.ly/lovekoanawangin

Aside from Anawangins’ camping sites, you can also enjoy the view of Capones Island.  Capones Island is about 20-30 minutes boat ride from Pundaquit. It’s usually a location for surfing adventures. One of the exciting areas there is their lighthouse. From its top you can view the open see, a beautiful attraction.

Another area you can visit is Camara Island – it has clear waters and colorful corals. The island has a great view of the open ocean. This is the closest island in the shore of Pundaquit.  A 15 minutes ride from Anawangin Cove.

Among these three, many, including me prefer staying in Anawangin. Some prefer the
other two and or other sites not yet mentioned in this article (I will in a different article). In any case, I guess you and I will agree especially after staying in this place that with its evergreen forest, gentle stream, breath-taking views and off-white sand, Anawangin is one of the best beaches near Manila for city people who wouldn’t mind roughing it out in Support locals at anawanginthe great outdoors.
